Colts Section 2021 Season
Please note that failure to sign and abide by this code could mean a player being prohibited from participating in training
sessions and matches.
The player agrees:
• To work hard towards the attainment of their full potential
• To attend games punctually, behave with self-discipline and give reasonable notice and reasons for absence or
lateness. Wear the Cove Cricket Club shirt for all matches and shirts should be tucked into trousers while playing.
• To abide by instructions given by the team manager or the coach
• To practice the techniques/skills taught by the coaches and attempt to apply them in matches
• To abide by the laws of cricket and the ethos of the game
• To accept the umpires decision at all times and not show any dissent
• To play cricket in a competitive manner but maintain the highest standards of sportsmanship
• To accept victory and defeat with dignity and grace and to learn from defeat
• Not to use foul language on or off the field of play.
• Not to attempt to intimidate or deliberately distract opponents by aggressive language or behaviour. To treat all
players as you would like to be treated
• To co-operate with coaches, teammates and officials. Remember that without them there would be no game
• To be proud of your club and remember that you are it’s representative on the field.

The parents/guardians agree to:
• Take responsibility for ensuring there son or daughter is signed in at the start of training sessions with the coach.
• Encourage and help the player meet targets, including abiding by the code of conduct
• Support the player without pressure, praise good work and refrain from criticising lapses
• Set a good example to the player by encouraging and supporting the team in a calm and controlled manner
• Refrain from coaching or interfering with the coaching of the players during training or at matches, as this is the
responsibility of the coach or team manager
• Know why your child is playing cricket. The objective of Cove Cricket Club Colts Section is to provide a quality
learning environment, to improve techniques but above all to encourage enjoyment of the sport

Cove Cricket Cricket Club (The Club) is committed to ensuring all Children (i.e all persons under the age of 18 ) participating in cricket have a safe and positive experience.
We do this by:

1) Putting things in place
We recognising all children participating in cricket (regardless of age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, ability or disability) have the right to have fun and be protected from harm in a safe environment.
We ensure individuals working within cricket at, or for, our club provide a welcoming, safe, and fun experience for children.
We provide an environment where the views of children, parents and volunteers are sought and welcomed on a range of issues. This will help us create an environment where people have the opportunity to voice any concerns (about possible suspected child abuse/neglect, and/or about poor practice) to the Club Welfare Officer.
We Adopt and implement the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) “Safe Hands – Cricket’s Policy for Safeguarding Children”.
We ensure all individuals working within cricket at, or for, the club are recruited and appointed in accordance with ECB guidelines and relevant legislation

Club Welfare Officers Role
As the first point of contact for parents, children and volunteers/staff within the club - As a local source of procedural advice for the club, its committee and members
As the main point of contact within the club for the ECB County Welfare Officer and the ECB Safeguarding Team,
As the main point of contact within the club for relevant external agencies in connection with child safeguarding. Ensuring correct and comprehensive reporting procedures exist for raising and managing child safeguarding concerns.
3) What do you do if you have a concern?
We ensure all suspicions, concerns and allegations are taken seriously and dealt with swiftly and appropriately.
We ensure access to confidential information relating to child safeguarding matters, is restricted to those who need to know, in order to safeguard children – including the Club Welfare Officer and the appropriate external authorities, such as the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO), as specified within ECB child safeguarding procedures.
5) Cricket Specific Advice
We ensure all individuals working within cricket at, or for, the club are provided with support, through education and training, so they are aware of, and can adhere to, good practice and Code of Conduct guidelines defined by the ECB, and the club.
We ensure all people who work in cricket at, or for, our club (such as staff, officials, volunteers, team managers, coaches and so on) understand how the “Safe Hands Policy” applies to them
